Just thought a little round up of our results so far season was in order so here it is:
27th April: Friendly vs Hampton Hill 2nd XI – Lost by 51 runs:
Winning the toss, Hampton Hill batted first and scored a decent 183-9 in their 40 overs lead by opener Stuart Barrs-James with 75 with 4 wickets for Matt marsh on debut. Corinthians folded for 132 in reply with the only real resistance being Vikram A’s 63.
11th May: League vs Ottershaw and Hamm Moor CC – Match abandoned too wet to play.
18th May: League vs Commonweath Offices CC – Lost by 1 run in a rain affected game.
COCC won the toss, batted and on a humid day made 247-9 with a pair of 43’s from Sinclair and Shakir (and extras with a solid 59!) 2 wickets apiece for John and Theo. After a lengthy rain delay Corinthians were set 173 to win in 28 overs. An aggressive start from Vikram A and Gopa 84-1 fell away to 119-8 but some late hitting from Bhav and Ben (and 6 penalty runs for slow over rate) got us very close in the end.
4th May: League vs Spencer CC – Sharks – Lost by 9 wickets:
WCCC were inserted by Spencer and from 131-5 ended getting bundled out for 152 (with 5 ducks they clearly went quackers….). Spencer were merciless in reply losing just one wicket and winning at a canter in 29 overs.
25th May: League vs Team Mitcham CC – lost by 104 runs:
WCCC won the toss, bowled first and conceded 243-7 (opener Abraham with 88, Rajiv and Robbie with a couple of wickets apiece late on. In reply opener Theo rather set the tone with a 4 ball duck and wickets fell fairly regularly from them on despite a battling 45 from Captain Cliffo (who was apparently trying to calculate how to get his hundred with just 9-11 for company, positive thinking at least).
21st April: Friendly vs Woldingham Village – Sunday XI – won by 111 runs – Match report here
28th April: Friendly vs Mitcham CC – 3rd XI – lost by 47 runs
MCC were inserted by Corinthians and managed 162-9 despite Steve’s 3-31. In reply only Omkar looked at home with 47 but with only two other batsmen reaching double figures Corinthians could only muster 115 all out.
28th May: Friendly vs Bank of England CC – Sunday XI – Lost by 8 runs
A cracking game of cricket, the Bank were inserted and were soon under pressure as Kunal bowled the opener 1st ball. This became 52-4, but the Bank aided by 49 from Viegas rebuilt to 104-6 and a bit of late hitting got them to 164 all out. Two wickets apiece for Kunal, Pulkit, Theo and Omkar.
The reply got off to a catastrophic start at 7-3 but a 70 run partnership between Pulkit and Vikram A hauled us back into the game. Kunal and Druva continued the good work and got Corinthians to 134-5 before Kunal was bowled and the rest of the tail couldn’t quite limp over the line.
Thanks for reading all that!
See you soon
