Well, it’s rare that a side can be completely dominant for half of a game, yet still lose by 100 runs. But, somehow we managed it. How? Well…
At drinks, Prince’s Head had limped to 20 something for 2 off of 18 overs, curtailed by disciplined bowling, a slightly tricky pitch and a slow outfield. Corinthians are never rampant, but this was perhaps as close as we ever get. But, our opposition’s discipline in keeping wickets in tact allowed them to pick up the pace somewhat after drinks (the first boundary was around the 25th over and greeted by ironic cheers from the home bench) and made their way to 132.
Would it be enough? Well…
0-1 (first ball of innings)
6-7 (your correspondent departs, top scorer on 2, McDonalds still warm on the sidelines)
32-9 (the worst lbw decision I’ve seen this season, unlucky Theo)
32-10 (ah, scratch that, this one is now the worst one I’ve seen all season, doubly unlucky Geoff)
It was wet and miserable, but still, great to be outside, Richmond Green is a special spot to play cricket and Prince’s Head are a lovely opposition. Things can only get better, right?
